Born June 29, 1956, in Pekin to Charles Daniel and Josephine Amelia (Cravitz) Murray, she married Philip Kevin Miles on Nov. 10, 1979, in Pekin. He died Dec. 3, 1996, in Pekin. She later married Kurt F. Whais on April 26, 2003, in Groveland. He survives.
Also surviving are her father, Deacon Chuck Murray of Pekin; four daughters, Karissa Miles of Peoria, Kathryn Miles of Bloomington, Karyn Miles of Pekin and Nicole (Mike) Farr of Ogden, Utah; one son, Bryan (Brittany) Whais of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; one brother, George Murray of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two sisters, Maryann (Mike) Blanchard of Pekin and Patricia Baumann of Brimfield.
She also was preceded in death by her mother and one son, Greg Whais.
Kathy worked in geriatric long-term care for over 10 years. She last was a registered nurse for OSF Hospice in Peoria, last working in November 2009.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Kathy enjoyed baking, knitting and crocheting, and she was an avid reader.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
