Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM, Tuesday at Belden Larkin Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Bounds of Grace and Truth Fellowship Church officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, November 2nd, 2009 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, November 3rd at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Wesley was born November 24th, 1953 in Camp Atterbury, Indiana the son of Donald Frank and Maragarete (Kracker) Potts. He graduated from Leavenworth Public Schools and attended St. Mary's University earning a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He married Rhlonda Scott May 4th, 1991 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed with Perceptive Software, Inc. as a Computer Software Engineer before his illness forced his retirement. In 1988 he was given the gift of life by receiving a liver transplant. Wesley was an avid supporter of the Organ Donor Program, and was the longest living recipient of a liver donation. During his illness he showed great strength, courage and determination.
He enjoyed astronomy, building model airplanes, and holds the original software patent for Image Now.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Jeffrey and Brian Potts of the home, one brother; Ronald Potts of Federal Way, Washington, two sisters; Linda Price and Sandra Bergman of Leavenworth, Kansas, his step-mother; Anadell Potts of Leavenworth, Two step-sisters; Nancy Fay of Austin, Texas, Roxanne Medlen, of Pine, Colorado,
His mother-in-law Margaret Manno of St. Joseph Missouri, a sister-in-law Renae Scott, of St. Joseph Missouri, and a brother-in-law James Scott of St. Joseph, Missouri. Nine Nieces and Nephews, Thomas Price, Timothy Price, Amber Price, Candice Potts, Megan Potts, Allison Potts, Nicole Potts, R.J. Potts, Jr., and Daniel Bergman. Great nieces and nephews, Two aunts; Eula Holiday of Mustang, Oklahoma and Mary Oaks of Rogers, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one step brother, Michael Medlen, of Lawrence. Memorials in his name may be directed to an Education Fund for his two sons.
