Sergeant Salvatore P. Chrum, DSN 4975, was hired as a police cadet on 01/20/1964. On 11/30/1964 he received his commission and entered the Saint Louis Police Academy. After the academy he was assigned to the following Districts and Divisions through out his career. They were the 7Th, 8Th, Mobile Reserve Section, and the Homicide Division. While he was in Homicide he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 04/23/1990 and transferred to the 1St District as a Line Platoon Supervisor. During his career he was awarded 7 Chief's Letter of Commendation's on 08/16/1976, 05/27/1978, 11/22/1978, 09/30/1979, 10/03/1979, 06/25/1980, and 05/06/1982 for outstanding police work above the call of duty. When Sergeant Chrum retired on 02/15/1995 he had completed 31.07 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
