Married Agnes Wittreich originally from Kotschen, Rieg, Gottschee, Austria, on October 5, 1913. Worked as a foreman at Polar Wave Ice & Fuel in St. Louis until his untimely death on July 16, 1935, the day following a holdup in his workplace. He had wrestled with an armed gunman who was trying to rob the office of $5 and was fatally wounded from a single gunshot.
