Ludwig is also known as: Johan Ludwig, per the mainfest of the ship "Elizabeth", when he arrived in America in 1733 with his family; and as "Conon Ludwig" per his marriage record to Anne Ottilia Bautz in about 1746.

His father, Johannes Mohn, and mother, Margaretha Hack, brought Ludwig to America at the age of 4, along with his older brother Verner/Worner and his two older sisters Anna Maria and Matiles Magdalena.

While his brother moved to Virginia, and possibly to Maryland in the late 1700's, Ludwig and his father stayed near Mohnton, specifically Mohn's Hill, in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Ludwig and his father are shown to have land in Cumru Township, and Brecknock also.

He was a 6th Class Private in the Revolutionary War in 1781, under the command of Captain Sebastian Miller.

Ludwig and Anna's children are: Ludwig (b. unknown); Magdalena, b. 1748; John "Johann", b. 1749; Elizabeth, b. 1751; Peter, b. 1756; Susanna, b. 1762; Margaret "Margretha", b. 1763; Henrich "Henry", b. 1765; and Daniel, b. 1771. When he wrote his will in 1791, all the children listed above are mentioned, except for Magdalena.

Gravesite Details

I emailed the Church in April 2011, and received the reply that Ludwig is the only Mohn buried in this cemetery, according to the church records. Most of the headstones in this cemetery from the 1700's are too faded to read, including Ludwig's.
