Hugh R. “Pete” Asher, age 78, of San Antonio passed away on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010. He was born in San Antonio on March 26, 1931.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susie Asher, brothers Sidney, Donald, Richard, Archie, Jim, Joe, and Cecil; sister Barbara Asher Hay.
Hugh is survived by his son, Michael P. Asher and wife Sharon; daughters, Cindy Keating and Joanne Bath and husband Bill; sisters Lois A. Widner and Jeannie Gombert and husband Bobby; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He retired from the Navy and served on the U. S. S. Mansfield during the Korean War. He worked as a plumber in the local union for many years. Pete loved the Lord our Savior and was a member of Valley Hi Assembly of God Church.
Visitation was Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. The service will be held today, Tuesday, Feb. 9, with burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
