Alda Layman Hughes, age 96, of Woodland Terrace Nursing Home passed away July 19, 1982 at her home. She was born July 7, 1886 in Grayson County and was the daughter of Francis Marion Layman and Anna Green. Her husband Charles Daniel Hughes precedes her in death. / She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. / Survivors include four daughters, Mildred Brown, Seymour, Indiana, Irene Vertress, Somerset Ky., Anna Rose Merz, Louisville, and Laura Bell Booth of Louisville; two sons, Oscar F. Hughes, Salem, Ind., and Robert L. Hughes, Elizabethtown, KY., two daughters and one son, precedes her in death, Betty Jo Bartalski, Ruth Margaret Hughes and Charles Edward Hughes. / 26 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. / Funeral services were held July 21, 1982 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Leo Dienes officiating with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery, with the Watkins Funeral Home in charge of services.
