(Personal Note by GWUtley:)
Ellis's death was announced on a national syndicated radio program out of Chicago, Illinois. It was a program that I listened to almost every morning for five years.
The commentator started out by said "There was a pig farmer near Flagstaff, Arizona that went out to feed his pigs, and really fed his pigs. After a short break, he came back to tell the story. "A pig farmer by the name of Ellis Stock went out to feed his pigs. When he was finished he got caught in the wire fence, and sometime later died. Later the pigs got hungry and being pigs, they start to feed on Mr. Stock. It was a day or two before anyone found him." "Now You Know The Rest Of The Story! (the worst part, was while he was telling the story, he made it sound like a joke, which made it a lot worse.
Naturally, I was shocked because he is my Grandpa Stock's younger brother. I found out the next day, from relatives in Canebeds, that Uncle Ellis actually left the pig enclosure, before having a Heart Attack and died some time later. The pig didn't start eating him. Unfortunately no one found him for a day or two. Needless to say, I never listened to that radio program again.
