Nicholas Kakunes, CSM U. S. Army Ret., passed into eternal life on January 9, 2010 to join his beloved wife Voula in the Kingdom of Heaven. He will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith in God, for his love of family and country, for his courage, and for his extraordinary mental and physical toughness. He was a highly decorated combat veteran whose distinguished military career spanned more than 26 years.

Immediate survivors include sons, James N. Kakunes and George N. Kakunes of Atlanta; sister, Sophie Lougee of Darien, Ct; brother, Edward Kakunes of Stamford, Ct; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 13th at 1:00 P.M. at The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of The Annunciation with Father George Alexson officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 PM at AS Turner & Sons with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. (404) 292-1551.
