Audrey Marie Hodge, 79, of Lubbock, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Covenant Hospital.

She was born on May 1, 1930 to Marshall and Ruby Dickson in Bastrop, Texas. She was baptized at an early age at Craft Prairie Baptist Church in Bastrop. Audrey was also educated in Bastrop School System. After moving to Lubbock, she joined Bethel A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. A.W. Wilson. Later she joined the First Progressive Baptist Church, under the late Rev. Homer Avery. Audrey was united in marriage to Johnnie Lee Hodge on Oct. 17, 1949 and to this union nine children were born; five sons and four daughters. Audrey worked for LISD in food services for 23 years, where she loved all the students she encountered, and the students loved her as well.

Audrey leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Johnnie Hodge; five sons, Milton Hodge (Nancy), Ronnie Hodge (Renee), Bobby Hodge (Shelia), Tommy Hodge (Shedina) and Reginald Hodge (Tasha); four daughters, Helen Newman (Mac), Audrey Hodge (Eddie), Barbara Griffin (Willie) and Shirley Hodge (Tim); two very special granddaughters, LaKeshia Bills and LaKendra Bills; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
