His parents immigrated to America in 1907 from Kolb, Russia, and after several moves, established their home in Wapato, Washington. Solly married Verda Mae Lillehaug 1 Feb 1943 in Bremerton, Washington. On 12 Jan 1944 he enlisted in the U. S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged.
