D. Clyde Haines, aged 93 years, of Burgettstown, formerly of Pine Bank, died at 4:15 a.m., December 15, 1981, in the Washington Hospital Extended Care Facility.

He was born June 11, 1888, in McClellan, W. Va., the son of Dr. D. D. and Samilda Headley Haines.

He had attended California State Normal School and was a 1912 graduate of Waynesburg College. For 40 years, Mr. Haines had resided in Pine Bank where he taught school, was a farmer and served for 12 years as a Jackson Township Road Supervisor. Mr. Haines was a Protestant.

On October 5, 1913, he married Lena Smith, who died September 30, 1945. He made his home with a daughter in Burgettstown for the past 26 years. Mr. Haines was a member of IOOF Lodge 469 of Waynesburg for 56 years, Waynesburg Fraternal Order of the Eagles 598 for 44 years and Knights of Pythias Lodge 296 in Pine Bank for 60 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. R. B. (Jean) Roberts, of Burgettstown, with whom he made his home, and Mrs. Mary S. Stilwell, of Allen Park, Mich.; two sons, Joseph C. Haines, of Milford, Mich., and Raymond C. Haines, of Waukegan, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. One grandchild and one sister, Ethel Bowers, are deceased.
