Michael Coleman was born about 1735 probably in Carlisle, Pennsylvania although it is possible that he was born in Scotland. He died in February 1793. He married Margaret unknown last name and dates of birth and marriage, seven children:

"Peter Anderson (1758-1838), b. Wills Creek, Fort Cumberland, MD, drafted at the age of 16 in the Revolution, m. Sarah Coleman (d/o Michael who was scalped by the Indians at Cottageville, February 1793, and Margaretta). Michael was from the Juniata Valley, PA, a soldier in the Revolution, doing garrison duty at Fort Pitt, PA, Wheeling, and Fort Harmar, Marietta, OH. They lived at Belleville, Wood County, (W)V."
