Was in the Civil War from Texas, a Confederate and taken as a Prisoner of War at Arkansas Post, Arkansas.

There is no proof of what his middle name is, only that he has the initial "F." Some have assumed that it is "Franklin" because that was his son's middle name but I have reason to believe that it is something else due to records I have found, but still unproven.

William married Charlotte Williams 26 Jun 1848 Huntsville, Madison Co, AL. They had 12 children as follows:

04- Nancy America Birdsong
05- Joseph Warren Birdsong
06- Jesse Birdsong
07- Martha "Mattie" Ella Birdsong

09- Robert Lee Birdsong, Sr
10- Margaret "Maggie" Birdsong
