Davis native Clay William "C.W." Williams, 79, of Sulphur died June 10, 2005. Funeral services were June 13 at First Christian Church of Davis with Pastor Jonathan Smith officiating. He was buried at the Ravia Cemetery.
Williams was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Davis to Lorenzo Columbus and Hettie (Hagar) Williams. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 16 and served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He married Sadie Rean Payne on March 8, 1947, in Reno, Nev., and they made their home in California. They returned to Davis to raise their family. He worked in the Oklahoma and Texas oilfields with his drilling business, W & B Drilling Co., and retired in 1986. He was residing in the Veterans Center at Sulphur at the time of his death.
His survivors include: his wife of the home; seven children, Benny Joe Williams of Davis, William Michael Williams of Sulphur, Tommy Wayne Williams of Mustang, Wallace Lynn Williams of Hinton, Eddie Lee Williams of Weatherford, Donna Jean Mills of Decatur, Ark., and Yvonne Kay Farrell of Norman; four sisters, Lois Webb, Ruthie Gibson, Johnnie Belle Goddard and Betty Joy Jones, all of Davis; 22 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, L.C. Williams, and a sister, Lula Raper.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Payne, Perry Payne, Conrad Raper, Jerry Paul Pullen, Charles Mainard and Jerry Payne. His nephews were honorary pallbearers.
Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
