Wesley Clarence Cantrell, 82, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan.. 31, 2010.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Triumphant Truth Church, 1701 S. Manhattan St., with Dr. Alberta Helton officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Wesley was born May 19, 1927, in Moorewood, Okla., to Rice S. and Blanche Quattlebaum Cantrell. He had seven brothers and five sisters. He served our country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He married Louise Forester in 1952, and five children were born of this union. They made their home in Cheyenne, Okla., until 1964.

In 1966, Wesley moved to Amarillo, where he owned and operated Cantrell and Sons Tree Service for 37 years. Wesley was a tender-hearted man, who never met a stranger. He was generous to a fault and was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved talking on the phone, keeping up with many friends and family members.

Wesley's greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved giving them "soda pop" money and "Kiddieland" money for Wonderland Park.

He was loved deeply by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Tony Terrell Cantrell, Kelly Steve Cantrell and Benny Wes Cantrell; seven brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Boatman and husband LeRoy of Norman, Okla., and Vickie Hixon and husband Gary of Crescent, Okla.; a sister, Letha Hodnett of Amarillo; 11 granddaughters; seven grandsons; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
