Faye Simmons Adams, 80, died February 1, 2010, in Newton, Texas, after an extended illness.
She was the daughter of William Valentine and Fannie Terry Simmons, and was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Augusta.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Neal Adams; her brother, Millard (Red) Simmons and wife, Mary of Port Neches, Texas; and by her daughters, Sharon Johnson and husband, James of San Antonio, Texas, Cyndi Jacobson and husband, Keith of Katy, Texas; and by her eleven grandchildren.
Faye graduated from Newton High School and attended Sam Houston University, married in 1948. They lived in many cities while Charlie worked in the oilfields. Among her favorite places were Odessa and Midland, Texas where she made many lifelong friends. In Houston, she delighted in blessing people from her flower shop. Faye and Charlie returned to Newton where they resided until her death.
She is remembered by her family and friends as a fantastic cook, who loved people and enjoyed having folks come to eat and fellowship in her home. She touched many lives sharing the saving grace of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and served as the wedding coordinator with enthusiasm.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church with burial in the Newton City Cemetery.
