Denny, our beloved husband, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and cousin. You were always so irresistible with your easy laughter, beaming smile and a tender heart large enough to love your entire family, still making us each feel special. While you were healthy you did so love golfing, bowling and especially those familiar trips to Wendover. You loved life and wished to help others by becoming an organ donor. We recall how much you enjoyed your "oldies" music and knew the words to all of your favorite songs. You were also a great dancer. Remember how you taught your nieces and nephews the latest dance steps while they were still young? We have so many loving memories of you. But our lives will no longer be the same. You became progressively ill and the pain became increasingly severe, yet you continued daily to be strong for those around you. As the end approached and we all gathered at your bedside to say our final goodbyes, you shed a single tear to let us know how deeply you loved us in return and how you would miss us as well...until we meet again."If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever!"

Denny was born September 27, 1945 in American Fork, UT to Hiroji and Sumiye Yonemura Okumura and was the youngest of nine children.

He married the love of his life, Connie Kasubuchi, in Elko, NV, on May 5, 1973. In his words, "Connie is the best thing that ever happened to me...and I know that she really loves me. I think about that and it makes me feel good."

Although they had no children, their cats, dogs, nieces, and nephews ("the kids") filled their lives with joy. Denny attended East High School and worked as an electrician for Kennecott Copper.

Survived by his wife Connie; brothers Yuji and Sub (Cookie); sisters Ayako Kamoto, Fusa Nakayu (Kiyo), and Tets Aramaki; father-in-law John Kasubuchi; brothers-in-law Taira Fukushima and Bob Kasubuchi; sisters-in-law Mary, Rae (Carolyn), JoAnn Okumura, and Shigeko Fukushima; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ichi and Huch; sister Nobie Fukushima; mother-in-law Matsue Kasubuchi; sister-in-law Kiyo; brothers-in-law Jack Aramaki, Kay Kamoto and Tad Fukushima; nephews Billy Okumura and Jimmy Kamoto; niece Beverly Fukushima.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Granger Fourth Ward Chapel, 3305 South Scottsdale Drive (3950 West), West Valley City. Family and friends are welcome to say their goodbyes from 10:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., prior to the services.
