Jay I. Crawford died Saturday, July 15, 1989, at Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center, of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Crawford was born September 11, 1917, in Lincoln, and moved to Salina in 1952. He had been a farmer and then worked for the maintenance department of St. John's Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II, serving under Gen. George Patton, and was at Omaha Beach, Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a
member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors included his wife, Christine M. of the home; a daughter, Patricia A. Johnson; a brother, Ross Crawford; a sister, Pearl Ryan; and a granddaughter.
