YORK - Bronest Irvin York Sr., 80, of 4535 Hercules Ave. Jacksonville, died Tuesday, peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He had been a resident of Jacksonville since 1951. Employed with the Civil Service Mr. York served as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic at NAS Jax. and retired after 40 years of exemplary service. Prior to moving to Jacksonville he had been a Party Boat Captain with he Anderson Fleet of Panama City. In his early years he worked as a commercial fisherman from Panama City to the Keys residing in various ports, primarily Bay County and Cortez village. He is preceded in death by his wife the late Wilma Green York. he is survived by his son, Bronest Jr. (Judith); daughter, Talisa (Garrett); sister, Eloyce Pratt of Port St. Joe; grandchildren, Jennifer York and Jonathan Milam. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northeast Florida and devoted friend Vera Walsh for all their love and support. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM August 1, 1997, in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 So. Edgewood Ave. with Rev. Steven C. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Thursday (TODAY).
