Talisa Yvonne York-Highsmith, 49, of Tampa, Fl and formerly of Jacksonville, died Saturday, April 1, 2006. She was born in Jacksonville, FL. She attended Robert E. Lee High School where before graduating; she won the title of "Miss Senior High of Duval County" in 1974. She continued her education and received her degree from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked as a registered nurse in Orlando, Florida for many years before relocating to Tampa. Preceded in death by parents, Wilma P. and Bronest I. York Sr.

Survived by daughter, Carson; husband, Garrett Highsmith; brother, Bronest I. York, Jr.; wife, Judith; niece and nephew, Jennifer York & Jonathan Milam; Aunt Dean(Nadine); Aunt Tesse (Adrian's widow); mother-in-law, Janet Britten; husband, Paul; and numerous cousins.

A visitation will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6th, at MacDonald Funeral Home 10520 North Florida Ave. followed by a closing prayer. On Friday, April 7th in Jacksonville, family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Town & Country Funeral Home at 7242 Normandy Blvd. followed by a 2:30 pm graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, FL.
