McCubbin was born in Green county, Kentucky, September 8, 1813, and died at the home of his son, F. H. McCubbin, in Saline County, Mo., September 10, 1910, aged 97 years and two days.
He was married three times, the last two times in Missouri. Four children remain, all children of the second wife, viz: Felix H., of Saline County, Mo.; E. M., of Kansas City, Mo.; J. G. of Kansas City, Kan., and J. D. of Clinton, Mo. He was the father of 15 children and 14 grand children. He lived for the last 17 years with his son, Felix H.
Deceased had been a member of the Baptis church seventy-five years. He was a member of the Spring Grove church, Benton county, about 50 years, and for the last 16 years has been a member of Good Hope church, of which he died an honored member.
Mr. McCubbin took great delight in entertaining the Lord's people and his home was a home for the preachers. He lived a quiet, unassuming, consistent christian life, and attended church till he became quite deaf.
Funeral services, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. E. Norvell, were held at Good Hope church and his body was laid in the old church yard.
The writer considers the deceased one of the best mem he ever had in his fold. May his sons and other loved ones have the consolation of God's grace. J. E. Norvell.
