Carolyn McCubbins Scott has two different records one dated 1933 written by a great grandson and had the genealogy compiled and states:
James McCubbin was born April 14, 1765, place not known but perhaps either Maryland, Virginia or North Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War. His Army service will be found in Rev. War pension Claims W 1836 and verified in National No 250,045. He was 19 or 20 years of age at the time of his enlistment.
He married Miss Polly Cook in Rockingham County, NC in 1784 where they resided until 1806. He had relatives in Green County, Ky., since 1796 and in 1805 James visited these relatives and he was so favorably impressed with the new country that he moved there the following year.
James McCubbin died in Green County, Kentucky March 16, 1824. All of his 13 children were alive and well and attended their father's funeral.
