NEWTON AND VICINITY
Mrs. Lydia Baer, 86, died Tuesday morning at the Bethel Home for Aged where she had resided since May 1959. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church of Halstead with Rev. Arnold Funk in charge. Mrs. Baer was born at Summerfield, Ill. and was married there to Albert E. Baer. Several years later they moved to Halstead where they were long-time residents. Mr. Baer died in 1939. Surviving are a son-in-law, Ivan McElwain of Burrton, three brothers, five sisters, three granddaughters, one grandson, and six great-grandchildren.
