CHRISTIAN AURENHEIMER [AUERNHEIMER]
After a very brief illness Christian Aurenheimer [Auernheimer] died at his home six miles south and two and one-half miles west of Moundridge Wednesday evening, Feb. 11, [18] aged seventy-seven years and 26 days. Death was due to bronchial trouble with which he had been afflicted for some time. He is survived by his widow and ten grown children.
Christian Aurenheimer [Auernheimer] was born in Marienheim, Neuberg, Germany Jan. 23, 1843 and came to America in 1856, living first in Lee ocunty Ia. He moved to Illinois in 1863 and on March 6, 1870 was united in marriage to Maria Pletcher. Very happily they spent almost a half century together and next month would have celebrated their golden wedding, an event that was to have brought all the children home. Twelve children were born to them of which number ten survive. Mrs. Phil Heer of New Baden, Ill.; Mrs. A. E. Baer of Halstead, Kan.; Mrs. S. P. Vogt, Moundridge; Mrs. Henry Ruth, Adair Okla.; M. J. Aurenheimer, [Auernheimer], Goodland, Kans.
Mr. and Mrs. Aurenheimer [Auernheimer] and family came to Kansas in Feb. 1906 locating in Garden township. Mr. Aurenheimer [Auernheimer] was a very kindly, christian person, traits that established respect with all whom he came in touch. He was a member of the Garden church, where funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon.
