Powers, Lester Leroy, 88, retired Coleman Co. employee, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Broadway Mortuary, with burial following at Piedmont, KS at 12:15 p.m. A visitation with family present will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Powers was born on July 13, 1921 on a farm near Piedmont. On May 1, 1942, he married Anita Jewel Leo. Lester was a student of the Bible. He was always ready to share his faith. He taught Sunday School at two churches. He taught all ages-adults, youth, and children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bessie Powers; brothers, Dale and Bennie; sister, Velda; grandson, Brian White; mother-in-law, Rose Nix Leo. Survivors: his wife of 67 years, Anita; daughters, Helen J. Tate of Wichita, Louise (Greg) Swanson of Whitewater, WI, Karen (Glenn) Crump of Natalia, TX; brothers, Paul (Delva) of Wichita, Noel (Delores) of Cocoa, FL; brother-in-law, Frank (Barbara) Leo; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
