Ronald A. Thompson, 73, of Downingtown, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, at home.

He was the husband of Nancy Clemens Thompson, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Thorndale, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Lionnie E. Mendenhall Thompson.

He graduated from Scott High School in Coatesville in 1950.

Ronald was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor in Coatesville for over 60 years.

He was a member of Thorndale Methodist Church.

He was also a member and Past Master of Brandywine-Goddard Lodge No. 383, Coatesville; a member and Past Commander of Central Commandery No. 55 Knights Templar, Coatesville; a member and Past High Priest of Coatesville Royal Arch Chapter No. 267;a member of Lancaster York-Rite Masonry Goodwin Council, No. 19; and a member of Rajah Temple, Reading.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ronald A. Thompson Jr., and his wife Kelly, of Spring City; his daughter, Debra L. Thompson, of Downingtown; his daughter, Tina A. Thompson, of Downingtown; his daughter, Robin McVaugh and her husband Gary, of New Holland; five grandchildren, Lionnie, Jaclyn and Andrew McVaugh, and Brittany and Kaitlin Thompson; two brothers Charles E. N. Thompson, of Clearwater, Fla., and Kenneth A. Thompson, of Mountville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, at Wentz Funeral Home, 342 Chestnut St., Coatesville, 610-384-0318.

Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, August 12, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, and beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
