He was born December 6, 1926 in Hartford, Alabama, to Leslie and Elizabeth Pirkle Hatcher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Fontenot.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Lee Cooper Hatcher of Bonifay; one son, Phillip G. Hatcher, daughter-in law Katherine E. Hatcher, and granddaughter, Courtney K. Hatcher, all of Geneva, Alabama. Survivors also include three sisters: Voncille Lambert of Ozark, Alabama, Lucille Austin of Warren, Ohio, and Annette (Jay) Caskey of Enterprise, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 28, at 10 a.m. in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay with burial to follow in the East Pittman Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Holmes County. Rev. Gary Taylor and Rev. Donald Gainey will officiate with Peel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 27, 6 to 8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home.
