She was born July 8, 1906, in Rushville to James and Susan (Tharp) Wardell. She married Clark Cox on Dec. 2, 1924, in Galesburg. He died May 13, 1960.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence Cox of Plymouth; two grandsons, Kenny Cox of Plymouth, and Kelly Cox of Augusta, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Cox and one sister, Alda Drake.
Mrs. Cox owned and operated the Commercial Hotel in Plymouth for many years and most recently owned and operated Cox Vending Co. in Plymouth. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School and a former member of the Plymouth Women's Research Forum.
Services are 3 p.m. Wedsnesday in the Plymouth United Methodist Church in Plymouth with the Rev. Charles Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth. Friends called at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and Wednesday until noon. The family met with friends from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of her services at the church.
