MIDDLESBORO — Clarence Browning, age 77, passed away Thursday December 24, 2009, at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville.

He was born June 1, 1932, in Bell County, and was the son of the late Rev. Charlie and Parasita Partin Browning. A member of the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church, he had retired from the Union Carbide Y-12 Plant at Oak Ridge, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Pauline Evans Browning and Pauline Overton Browning; his stepmother, Ethel Browning; brothers, Earl, Roy, Homer and Charles Browning; stepsisters, Hazel Beeler and Roxie Maiden.

He is survived by the following members of his family: daughters, Sharon (Lynn) Jenkins, and Donna (Donny) Whitaker, all of Clinton, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Josh) Martin of Powell, Tenn., Krista and Kara Whitaker, Clinton, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Aaron Lynn Martin, Powell, Tenn.; two brothers, Donald (Meredia) Browning,Chenoa, and John D. (Goldie) Browning; Frakes; four sisters, Hazel Evans, Chenoa, Trula Bray, Frakes, Opal (W.M.) Webb, Chenoa, and Thelma (Caleb Jr.) Miracle of Frakes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayland Mason and the Rev. Johnny Partin presiding. Music will be provided by the choirs from New Vine Missionary Baptist Church and Anthras Missionary Baptist Church.

The family will meet at 12 p.m. Monday at the Red Hill Cemetery at Speedwell, Tenn., for graveside services.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of all arrangements.
