Dr. D. Sherwood Nye Sr., 62, pharmacist of 501 Laurel St., Conway died June 15, 1963.

Dr. Nye was born in Durham NC, a son of the late Francis Jackson and Mary Smith Nye. He was graduated from Orrum High School, attended State College in Raleigh and was graduated from the Medical College of South Carolina. His family came to Conway March 1928, at which time he and his brother formed Nye's Pharmacies.

He was a member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church of Conway, a past trustee of the schools, he was a charter member and past director of the Kiwanis Club. Dr. Nye was also a past member of the pharmaceutical Association and a member of the Masonic Order.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louise McMillan Nye; two sons, David S. Nye Jr., and Frank L. Nye, both of Conway; a daughter Mrs. E. Eugene (Mary Lou) Holley of Aiken; two brothers Dr. R. Bruce Nye and Dr. Dewey Nye both of Conway, a foster brother M. G. McDowell of Elliotts and seven grandchildren.
