He was 81 years of age and had spent his entire life in the Old Johnsonville community. He was widely connected and a member of one of the most prominent families of Williamsburg County.
He was a member of the Old Johnsonville Church where he was organist from boyhood to late in life and from then until his illness was a member of the choir.
He was a farmer,lumberman,cabinet maker and beekeeper.
He leaves the following children: Mrs. Eunice Huggins Brown(Julian), Mrs. Kenneth Huggins Brown, Mrs. Eadiemae Huggins Newman(John Rush), Miss Minnie Huggins, Otis Huggins, and K. Nedo Huggins of Hemingway and Mrs. Bessie Huggins Miller(Boyd)of Bennettsville,and Mrs. Clarice Huggins Edgeworth(Tom)of Biltmore, NC. Three sisters also survive him, Mrs. Frances Olivia Huggins Flowers(A. E.), Mrs. Mable Huggins Ginn(Henry) and Mrs. Amanda Huggins Davis(J.H.) all of Hemingway.
In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Thurmond Flowers, Mrs Eugene Hanna, Mrs. Raymond Price, Miss Marie Shine and the following grandchildren: Misses Martha Newman, Emagene Calhoun, Betty and Kathleen Brown and Katheryn Edgeworth.
Active pallbearers were his grandsons, J. D. Brown, Jr., Merrill Brown, Otis G. Huggins,Jr., Jimmy Huggins, Boyd Miller,Jr.and Ulmer Eaddy,Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were B.L. Ard , H.E. Eaddy, Earl Matthews, J.J. Snow, Louis Venters, T.F. McTeer, Articus Cox, M.V. Cox, Rich Poston, S.B. Poston, George McDaniel, Deleon Poston, Willie Hemingway and Andrew Eaddy.
The Funeral was held at the late residence at 4 o'clock with the Rev. J.D. Griffin conducting the services.
