Funeral services for Talmadge Dewitt Lafever, 85, of Silver Point, will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 13, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lafever Cemetery in Cherry Hill.

The family is currently receiving friends at the funeral home.

Mr. Lafever died on Wed., Aug. 11, 1999, at Standing Stone Health Care Center.

He was born on March 5, 1914, in Putnam County to the late Ode and Hallie Butts Lafever. Mr. Lafever was owner and operator of Lafever Grocery. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Lafever served in the Army during World War II.

His family includes a daughter, Darlene Reil of Monterey; a son, Eldon Lafever of Joliet, Ill.; a sister, Willie Jo Thomas of Algood; two brothers, Edward Lafever of Cherry Hill and Arthur Lafever of Smithville; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Estelle Lafever.

Donations may be made to the Cherry Hill Community Center.

Rev. Wesley Henry will officiate at the services.
