ROCK HILL – Mrs. Doris Knight Starnes, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel with Rev. Jamie Burdette officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
Born in Monroe, NC, Mrs. Starnes was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Knight and the late Bertha Jarmon Knight. She worked for Rock Hill Printing and Finishing and retired from Frito Lay. She loved fishing and was known as the “Spot Queen” at Holden Beach, NC. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill. Mrs. Starnes was the widow of Bundy Hoyte Starnes and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Starnes Parrado.
Surviving are her sons, David Lee Starnes and his wife, Elizabeth of Spartanburg and Timothy Hoyte Starnes of Rock Hill; her brother, Warren Lee Knight of Lake Park, GA; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:30pm (prior to the service) at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E White St, Rock Hill.
