Leona Wholers was my great-aunt. This is from her obituary I found in a newspaper clipping in a box of my mother's.--Garry P



Leona M. Wohlers of Mt. Olive passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield on Tuesday, August 14, 1979 at 4:28 p.m.. She was 86 years of age at the time of her death.
She was born in Mt. Olive on May 2, 1893 to Herman H. and Louise (Nieman) Droste. She married Hermn Wohlers on December 28, 1915 at Mt. Olive. She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Herman of Mt. Olive, a daughter, Roleen Viehweg of Mt. Olive, a brother, Harold Droste of Litchfield, five sisters, Edna Troeger, Irene Fahrenbkrog, Vernia Beinke, Norma Kampmeyer, and Mildred Schloman, all of Mt. Olive, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laverne, a grqndchild, Karen, 2, brothers, Elmer and Victor Droste, 3 sisters, Luella Hieronymus, Myrtle Wante, and Bernean Seifreid.
Funeral was held at Zion American Lutheran Church on Friday, August 17, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. S. Roesler officiated. Burial was made at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Bill Anderson, Steve Viehweg, Tobin Viehweg, Dean Sexton, John Droste, Bob Droste, Leonard Bednar. Roger Viehweg was honary pallbearer.
The church choir sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden".
