Viehweg, Roleen L.

Services for Roleen Leona Viehweg, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Zion Lutheran Church there with the Rev. Terry Breum officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Becker and Son Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service or the Zion choir.

Mrs. Viehweg died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 1999, in her home. She was 81 years old on October 15.

She was president of the Mt. Olive Senior Citizens Housing, member of the Mt. Olive Senior Citizens, the VFW Post 5790 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

A member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Mt. Olive, she was baptized there on November 4, 1917 and confirmed on May 20, 1932. She attended Mt. Olive public schools and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in the class of 1935.

She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Herman and Leona Droste Wohlers. She married Harold Edward Viehweg on November 20, 1937, in the Wohlers home in Mt. Olive. He died April 13, 1987.

Surviving are sons, William Viehweg of Mt. Olive, Roger Viehweg and wife Lorraine of Chicago; a daughter, Sharon Lynn Anderson of Fort Meyer, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Laverne Schoppman. Following the services on Monday a lunch will be served to family and friends in the fellowship hall by the women of the church.

During the service the congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" The Zion choir sang "In the Garden" and "My God and I." Elda Prange was the organist and pianist. Pallbears were Steve Viehweg, Tobin Viehweg, Jamie Viehweg and Wayne Viehweg, all grandsons, Richard Grimes and Walter Friesner, Jr. Following the services a lunch was served to family and friends in the Zion Fellowship hall by women of the church. Mrs. Viehweg, 81, died Thursday, September 30, in Mt. Olive.
