GALENA, KANSAS: Marvin D. Wendt, age 71, 2321 Galena Ave, died at 10:50 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at St John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO.

Mr. Wendt was born July 8, 1938 in Princeton, MO. His parents were Alva and Alma B (Hines) Wendt.

He had lived here for the past 46 years, moving from Trenton, MO.

He had worked in the area mines as a rock crusher. He had been a truck driver, and worked a few years at Eagle Picher. He last worked at Missouri Steel Castings, Joplin, MO, a job he held for 32 years.

He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and watching his grandkid's ball games.

He was married to Mary Lou Huffman on June 6, 1961 at Miami, OK. She passed away January 10, 2002.

His deceased siblings were James Wendt, Zella Hines, Buck Carl Hines, Benny Wendt, Lucy Stephenson, Doris Ross, Diana Shaw, Barry Wendt, and Amy Crawford.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Wendt (wife, Michelle), Neosho, MO and Russell Wendt, Lowell, KS; two daughters, LaDonna Thompson, (husband, Dickie Glen), Galena, KS and Dina Delaney (husband, Kevin), Galena, KS; one brother, Tommy Wendt (wife, Jamie), Trenton, MO; four sisters, Ruby Gunn (husband, Tommy) Holt, MO, Lois Pfieffer (husband, Steve), Browning, MO, Linda Nordsieck (husband, Ike), Enid, OK, and Virginia Thatcher, N. Kansas City, MO; one half brother, Billy Wendt, State of Missouri; one special niece, Donna Souder (husband, Gerald) Jamesport, MO; six grandchildren, Lesley Thompson, Trevin Thompson, Dalton Wendt, Megan Delaney, Noah Delaney, Noah Whited; one great-grandchild; two sister-in-laws, Bertha Hines, Milan, MO, and Patricia Greener, Cameron, MO;

Funeral services will be at 9:00 am, Monday, January 25, 2010 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Jeff D. Martin will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the funeral home.
