Obituary-E. Frank Smith--
E. Frank Smith was born on March 14, 1875 at Edgar, Nebraska and passed away November 9, 1955 in the hospital at Ventura, Calif.

Frank was born and grew to manhood in Clay County. He married Edith E. Gowen December 31, 1902. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Roger Carlson, Bakersfield, Calif.; Burdette Smith, Clay Center; Merton Smith who died in infancy, and Mrs. Hugh Clark, Jr., Oxnard, Calif.

The early years were spent in farming in the Ong Community and in 1942 they moved to Oxnard, Calif., where he was employed at the Port Hueneme Naval Base until retiring.

The community will long remember Mr. Smith for his kindness and ever readiness to help his neighbors and friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; three children, Retta, (Mrs. Rose (sic) Carlson) Burdette and Justine (Mrs. Hugh Clark); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Gowen of Ong; and Mrs. Esther Fletcher Nampa, Idaho; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were conducted Nov 11 at Oxnard, Calif.

Services were held at the Ong Methodist Church Monday, Nov 14, with Rev. Harry Gleim in charge. Two songs "Last Mile of the Way" and "Good Night and Good Morning" were sung by a double duet, Mrs. Harry Wight, Mrs. Will Herrick, Mrs. Oscar Danielson and Eleanor Hokom. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ralph McCloughan. Burial was made in the Ong Cemetery beside the body of little Merton Smith Pall bearers were Laurel Johnson, Gayle Johnson, Dale and Jerry Lobeda, Gaylord and Gordon Gowen.
