Mrs. Sybil A.G.Chadsey died at 2:45 Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.R. Scruggs, 275 Prairie avenue. Mrs. Chadsey had been seriously ill for over six months but she had been an invalid for years. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis on December 13 that affected her throat and right side. Since then she had been able to be up and around the house a part of the ime but she was unable to speak. For the past ten days, she had been unconscious. In fact, it was known for several days that death might come at any hour. Mrs. Chadsey was the last of her immediate family. A younger brother, Rev. C.W. Palmer dying in Ohio on April 19.Mrs. Chadsey's maiden name was Palmer and she was of English descent. She was 88 years 5 months old. She was born in Saratoga county, New York Jan. 13, 1819. She was the widow of Dr. A.J. Chadsey whose death occured in 1888. Dr. & Mrs.Chadsey came to Decatur in 1881. Mrs. Chadsey had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Scruggs, for the past twenty-six years. Mrs. Chadsey was the mother of nine children, four of whom are living. They are Mrs. W.R. Scruggs of Decatur, Judge John H. Chadsey of Rochester, N.Y, Mrs. John H. Mulvane of Topeka, Kan. and Miss S. Lillian Chadsey of Decatur. She also leaves seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Two of the grandchildren, R.R. Scruggs and Mrs. B.C. Jinkins are here. The relatives present at the bedside of Mrs. Chadsey at the time of her death were: Mrs. W.R. Scruggs, Mrs. John H. Mulvane, Miss S.Lillian Chadsey, Mrs. & Mrs. R.R. Scruggs and Mr. & Mrs. B.C.Jinkins of St. Louis. Judge Chadsey arrived from Rochester Monday afternoon. Mrs. Chadsey was a member of the First Baptist church of Decatur. She was held in high esteem though unable to take an active part in church work she had a deep interest in the church and contributed toward the work of the church. The funeral will be held at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon from the residence of Mr.& Mrs. Scruggs. The service will be conducted by Rev. S.H. Powyer of the First Baptist church assisted by Rev. W.H. Penhallegon of the First Presbyterian church. The interment will be at Greenwood. DECATUR REVIEW MONDAY EVENING, JUNE 17, 1907
