4 die in Georgia crash
An man and three teenagers were killed in an accident outside of Waycross, Ga., Friday afternoon, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Eldon George Jones, 69, was driving east on Georgia 177 in Ware County when he either ran a stop sign or did not stop long enough before entering the U.S. 1 intersection at 3:03 p.m., the state patrol said. A tractor-trailer heading northbound on U.S. 1 struck Jones' vehicle.
The semi pushed Jones' car to a ditch east of U.S. 1, where both vehicles came to rest, said the state patrol.
Jones was driving with two granddaughters, 13-year-old Mary Gaskins and 15-year-old Meghan Gaskins, and another passenger, Kelly Grady, 15. All four were from Blackshear, Ga., and were wearing seat belts, according to the state patrol.
The truck driver, 30-year-old Jake Lesley Bowen, and a passenger, Angie Bowen, 27, both of Douglas, Ga., complained of minor injuries at the scene but were not taken to the hospital. They weren't wearing seat belts, the state patrol said.
