DR. RANSOM PASSES AFTER A LONG ILLNESS

Dr. John Ransom, a long-time resident of this place, passed away at the family home Friday, November 9th.

Dr. Ransom was 92 years old at the time of his death which followed an illness of several months, but prior to that time, he had been unusually active for a man of his years.

He spent over half a century active in his profession the last 44 years in Oregon. 11 years at Riddle, a short time in Salem, and the remainder in this vicinity. He knew the hardships of the pioneer country doctor but in reviewing them with his friends they were a past pleasant experience.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Dr. Ransom was the father of ten children, four of who, with their mother are deceased.

On February 16, 1890, he was married to Mary Olive Gulvin, who survives, as do three sons and 3 daughters: John of Shelburne; Harve of Lyons; and Tom of Turner; Effie McGovern of Alaska; Mrs. Alice Perkins of Dayton; and Mrs. Mary Oller of Portland; also a number of grand and great-grandchildren survive.

He was laid to rest in Twin Oakews Cemetery where his grave was covered by many lovely floral tributes.
