Elnora Collins Hyler, 85, formerly of 9880 Martinsville Highway, Danville, VA, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Chatham Health & Rehab Center. Born July 23, 1924, in Washington County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Albert Collins and Flowery McNew Collins. She was married to Aubrey S. Hyler who died December 30, 2007.

Mrs. Hyler was a graduate of Schoolfield High School and attended Stratford College. She was a secretary at First Virginia Bank. In her early years she taught Sunday School at Ferry Road Friends Church. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and a member of the ABWA.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hyler Ferrell of Bachelors Hall. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Ernestine Collins Custer and a brother, Dr. Eugene Collins.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Swicegood Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
