Biloxi, Miss., Sept. 21 - The funeral of Colonel Roderick Seal took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the residence of Miss R. L. m. Nixon, who had been an intimate friend of the deceased since childhood. It was attended by a large concourse of friends and those who wished to show their regard in this way for this highly esteemed man. Colonel Seal was a very prominent man. He was elected clerk of the courts of Hancock county and qualified before he attained his majority, and in 1852, 1861 and 1893 he served Harrison county in the legislature. He was instrumental in securing the charter for the building of the Louisville and Nashville division between New Orleans and mobile, and for many years he was attorney for the railroad. In 1865 he represented Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties int he senate and rendered efficient service.Although a public an, his domestic ties were as strong as ever, and he was a true friend to whomsoever he was a friend."
