DEATH ANGEL CALLS EARLY
And Mrs. Chas. McKinley Together with an Infant Son Goes to her Reward
Nancy Lorena McKinley, daughter of Jas. H. and Margaret Edmiston was born near Tilden Aug 29, 1880 and departed this life Sabbath morning Jan. 12, 1919, being 38 years 4 months and 13 days on earthly journey. On Jan. 31 1900, she was united in marriage to Mr. Charles McKinley. They made their home in this vicinity ever since, except about two and a half years which were spent near Freeburg, Ill. and in Colorado. To this union was born a son, whose spirit preceded that of his mother to glory by two days. On Nov 10, 1894, she united with the Prosperity U P Church, now Tilden, by profession of faith and remained a member of this church to the day of her death.
She, with the babe, leaves to mourn their departure the husband and father, her father, Mr. J. H. Edmiston, (her mother having preceded her by four years), a sister Mrs. Henry Dunn; a brother Charles G Emistron and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. A faithful and loving wife has gone to glory.
The esteem with which Mrs. McKinley was held was evident by the size of the funeral attendance, The church was packed to the door. They came from every part of the community and every town joining Tilden. Some other relatives came from laces also more remote. Rev. Harper, the pastor officiated being assisted by Rev. Hanks of the M. E. Church and Rev. Davis of Coulterville. A very large number also went to the cemetery where she was laid to rest with the babe in her arm, which to those in the faith would be a symbol of the Good Shepherd bearing home the lamb in His arms.
Would to God that more might be prepared for death in early life that they might have a saving relation with Him who bears His own to the eternal home. Many calls have come to our community which teach us the uncertainty of time and may we learn this lesson where it is too late.
