He was born on Oct. 21, 1936, in Rogerville, Neb., to Cecil Samuel and Alice May (Foster) Robinson. He retired in the fall of 2001 after working for General Motors Company for 43 years. In February 2002, he and his wife, Kaleen ?Granny? retired to Earl. While living in Janesville, Melvin also owned a bait shop in Indianforde, worked in tobacco fields, and did other various jobs in and around Edgerton.

He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, spending time with his dogs, bluegrass music, and selling items at flea markets. Melvin was a member of the autoworkers union in Janesville and attended Lake Park Alliance Church in Shell Lake.

Melvin is survived by his children, Melvin G. Robinson Jr. of Earl, Kim (?Pete?) Irvine of Trego, Donna Robinson of Michigan, and Shonnon Robinson of Ohio; five grandchildren, Patrick James, Tasha E., and Tenisha E. Irvine, and Donald A. and Jennifer L. Starks; great-grandson, Austin Starks; brothers, Gerald (Marge) of Edgerton and Donald (Diane) of Indianforde; sisters, Esther (Herbert) Falk of Edgerton, Ethel Cleland of Orfordville, Evelyn (Ernest) Zieroth of Blue River, and Nancy (Richard) Neath of Edgerton; and many nephews and nieces.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, David; grandchildren, Kristin Starks, Peter James Robinson, and Rosemary Robinson; and one great-grandson, Michael Irvine.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Dahl Funeral Home. Pastor John Salstrom officiated.

Visitation was from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment followed in Earl Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Chuck Allen, Patrick, Pete, and Tenisha Irvine, Jessie Kessler, and Marty Ksobiech.
