Kelly Vaughan Chase, 21, of West Chester, died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in Malvern, her family later moved to West Chester where she attended and graduated from B. Reed Henderson High School. Kelly then went on to study elementary education at Neumann University.
Kelly loved children and was eager to start her career in teaching upon graduation in the spring. She enjoyed playing many sports, with softball being her favorite. She played for the West Chester Girls Softball League, which will benefit from the Kelly Vaughan Chase Memorial Fund.
When Kelly walked into a room, her beautiful smile and spirit were like a ray of sunshine. She brought joy and laughter to everyone she knew. Her heart of gold, fiery spirit and love of life are what made Kelly a friend to many and loved by all.
She was the beloved daughter of Christopher V. Chase and Jeanmarie (McLaughlin) Chase; loving sister of Matthew, Jacqueline and Cory; and granddaughter of Freida Chase, William and Regina McLaughlin and the late Franklin Chase. She was the loving girlfriend of Tim Pelet.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike (corner of Hilltop Road), West Chester, 610-431-9000.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Boot Road, West Chester.
Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
