Florence Ella Gayer Sackett was born in Pike County, Illinois, on June 14, 1860, and departed this life at her home in McPherson on July 20, 1933, having reached the age of 73 years, 1 Month and 6 days. On November 10, 1879. She was united in marriage to Asa F. Sackett in Adams County, Ill. To this union 7 children were born, three of whom died in infancy. In 1885 the family came to Kansas and homesteaded in Kingman County. In 1891 they moved to McPherson County and 1923 they moved to McPherson City. Mrs. Sackett was converted and joined the Methodist Church at the age of 16 and throughout her long life was a faithful member. For the last 27 years she has been member of the First Methodist Church of McPherson. She is survived by her husband and 4 children, all of whom are residents of this community. There are also 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 8 brothers and sisters.
Mrs Sackett was a woman of strong convictions and blameless integrity and her family will remember her faithful devotion to every duty and demand of a long and useful life.
