BELPRE - Christine M. "Ena" Meyer, 91, died June 16, 1997, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, in Great Bend.

She was born Aug. 30, 1905, in Ellinwood, the daughter of Mathias and Mary Knipp Gales. A lifetime Belpre-area resident, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and the Altar Society, Beautiful Prairie EHU and the Belpre Womens Sewing Club, all at Belpre.

On Nov. 18, 1925, she married Paul Bernard Meyer Sr. at Belpre. He died Feb. 28, 1993.

Survivors include: three sons, Paul B., Lubbock, Texas, Jerry, Belpre, and Mike, Schaumburg, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Jean Hirsh, Kinsley; a sister, Veronica Birzer, Ellinwood; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry, and three brothers, Leon, Roger and Norbert Gales.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Belpre. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Bob Shremmer presiding. Burial will be in the Belpre Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church, or to St. Nicholas School Endowment Fund at Kinsley, incare of the mortuary.
