Henriette and William Henry "Bill" Hawthorn met in France sometime near the end of WWI or shortly thereafter. She was a school teacher. They fell in love and were married in Saint-Nazaire. On May 12, 1919 (see ancestry.com for documentation), Henriette applied for an "Emergency U. S. Passport" in order to join her husband in America. On the application, she swore an "Oath of Allegience" to the United States of America. They never had children. Her name, pronounced phonetically in English, was Henrietta - in French "Augh-ree-etta."
