Ottis H. Newland

ALGER - Ottis H. Newland, 67, Alger, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, shortly after being admitted. He had been ill for four years. Death was due to a heart attack.

He was a retired business man at Alger and had been in business for 16 years. He was a World War I Veteran, having served overseas.

Mr. Newland was a member of the American Legion at Kenton. He was also a member of the Alger City Council, and the fire department.

Born March 31, 1892 in Auglaize County, he was a son of Jasper and Henritta (Hines) Newland.

On Oct. 6, 1921 he was married to Juanita Curl, who survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Robert Ward of Harrod, and Mrs. James Clark of Alger; two sons, Ottis Jr. of 3530 S. Dixie Highway, and Jody, at home; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Walter Vorhees of East Sparta.

Mr. Newland was a member of the Central Methodist Church, Alger, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Harold Luncford officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call at the Hanson Funeral Home, Alger, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.
